The Digital Journalism Task Force will host a Google Hangout with award winning filmmaker Stacey Muhammad. During the one-hour chat journalists will learn how to turn their digital dreams into reality. The hangout will take place Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time. Tracie Powell, Co-chair of NABJ Digital and Vice Chair – Policy, will moderate.

Award-winning filmmaker Stacey Muhammad will discuss her newest work, “For Colored Boys: Redemption.” She’ll share how to best use indiegogo or Kickstarter to raise money for digital film projects as well as talk about the obstacles and opportunities filmmakers face in telling stories digitally. We’ll also chat with Stacey about how journalism informs the way she tells stories.
“For Colored Boys” is a web series based on the play ‘For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf” and a dramatization of the real-life challenges faced by black men in America. Episodes air Sundays at 7:00 p.m. on Youtube. Actor Isaiah Washington and TV personality Marc Lamont Hill are executive producers on the project.
